Preparing for your
portrait session takes a little planning. Follow our
suggestions, be creative, relax, and have fun!
Tips for Everyone
These recommendations are
based on years of experience. We want to help you
create a timeless classic portrait that will be
treasured and enjoyed throughout the years. And more
importantly we want your session to be fun.
Style
Think about looking at your
portraits 20 years from now. What do you want to
see? You can remember yourself in all styles —
classy, casual, wild, fun, and different.
Clothes
Long sleeves are
preferable. Avoid busy prints and patterns.
Simplicity is often the key.
We recommend different
clothing strategies for senior portraits and family
sessions. See the boxes at the right for details.
Glasses
If glasses are worn, the
glare can be a problem. Use non-glare lenses or
remove them if possible.
Hair & Nails
We suggest a clean, natural
look. Avoid new styles and fads. Ladies, please
remove any unwanted brow and facial hair. Guys
should be clean-shaven.
Your hands will be in your
portraits. Have your nails done.
Skin & Makeup
Avoid being overly tanned
or sun burned — it is impossible to re-touch.
Ladies, if your face tends
to be shiny, be sure to use powder. We suggest an
extra application of mascara. Bring powder and
lipstick for touchups. A face foundation is
advisable.
